PLOT:
Super(film) is about the story of a regular man, Frank D'Arbo played by the funny man Rainn Wilson, who becomes a Super Hero, even having NO SUPER POWER.

After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.

Well, that’s the official synopsis. I’ll say that, based on the clips that have been released, it looks funny, although perhaps a little too quirky for my tastes. Plus there have been a number of these films lately, with Kick-Ass probably being the best.

The inclusion of Rainn Wilson and especially Ellen Page make me hopeful. Perhaps they’ll elevate the material to something watchable.

If you have seen the movie "Defendor", well it's kind a like that, but FUNNIER. But then there are lots of other film similar to this one like Kick-Ass so I think film like this are overdone. Well, let's see how Rain Wilson version of wannabe-superhero film will work.

NEWS:
Contrasting with big Hollywood superhero movies hyped at Comic-Con International, Super director James Gunn took over Hall H on Friday to present a DIY man-in-tights character that would have fit right in with the cosplaying fanboys trawling the convention center corridors.

Joining Gunn (Slither) at the panel in San Diego was Rainn Wilson (The Office), who stars as Frank D’arbo, a downtrodden man who recruits a psychotic teenager and dresses up in red tights to become The Crimson Bolt. The wannabe hero then sets out to win back his wife from a glamorous drug dealer.

Wilson’s Super co-stars Ellen Page (Inception), Nathan Fillion (Firefly) and Michael Rooker (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) also took questions from the audience in support of the project, which is now in post-production.

With questions of distribution and marketing yet to be resolved, producer Miranda Bailey says, “James has a ton of fans who attend Comic-Con and it just seemed like a great way to show them a taste of Super. Nathan Fillion, who plays The Holy Avenger in the film, also has a ton of geeks who love him, so we all decided to go down and join the fun. ”

Super promises a fresh spin on the blockbuster-style action, Bailey said in an e-mail to Wired.com. “Even though this film is about Rainn Wilson’s character becoming a superhero of sorts, it is by far not a Hollywood superhero movie. James has a sick mind and has written a hilarious, dark yet moving film.”
